This past Saturday, I went fishing at Montebello which is a fishing and camping resort located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Montebello was probably about an hour and forty minutes away from Richmond and its a pretty laid back spot. I also got a chance to see their fish hatchery which are used to raised rainbow trout and the hatchery is enormous. When the rainbow trout are fully grown they are taken out of the hatchery and used to stock the pond which visitors to Montebello are able to fish from. Fishing is free but the catch to that is that you have to pay for all the fish you catch by the pound and you cannot release any fish back into the pond once they are caught. I got there about 3'ish in the afternoon expecting to catch tons of fish but to my surprise I caught only one in a three hour span. The little kids all around me were pulling trout out of the pond by the truckload and I could only watch. But the trout I had caught was about two pounds and when the hook caught, it was deep inside of the fish. I tried my best to get the hook out from inside the fish but it was no use, the fish ended up dying a painful death in my hands.

Flavaa Flaaav!

3-16-2009 11:32pm

I was lucky enough to spend my entire spring break in Las Vegas with my family and my girlfriend. The second day there, we were sight seeing while walking the strip and we came across the one and only Flavor Flav. At first, we were just minding our own business and walking the strip which seemed to drag on forever and then I heard someone in the crowd yell out "Flavaaa Flaaaav!!" My eyes quickly glanced around and skimmed my surroundings until I finally spotted him. He was wearing his usual attire which consisted of an oversized-clock dangling from his neck to remind people how important time is. When I spotted him, he was just casually walking around with one of his many kids. I could tell that he was starting to get flustered with the mob of people following him around and watching his every move. Unlike the other people, I decided to mind my own business and let him be and I walked into the Coca-Cola factory with my family. While browsing around the store we saw Flavor Flav again and my brother came up with a brilliant idea. His plan was to trade a teddy bear book bag which he had won at one of the stupid arcade games to Flav's little boy in return for a picture with Flav. My brother decides to act upon his stupid plan and chased Flav up the escalator to offer him his ultimatum. Needless to say, he was shot down instantly by Flavor Flav who was remorseless.

My sunday

It was Sunday night and it was snowing heavily. I was looking out the window in amazement because my brother Brian always told me that snow never accumulates in Richmond for whatever reason. The moment the last snowflake hit the ground my roommates and I were already rushing outside to explore this new found winter wonderland. After beaming a couple of perfectly packed snowballs at each other, my roommates and I came to the conclusion that the fresh snow was perfect for rolling snowmen. The base of our first and biggest snowman was accumulating rapidly and getting way too heavy for just one person to roll. It took four guys to push the base of the snowman to where we wanted it and it was quite exhausting. After about two hours of building snowmen, the finished products were a nine and six-foot tall snowman accompanied by a mini-snowman. We all went to bed peacefully and content that night, oblivious to what was happening throughout the night. To our horror, we woke up in the morning to the scene of the mini-snowman murdered with its head punched clean off t and to a six foot-tall snowman toppled over crying out for help.

Chimp attack

2-23-09 5:13pm
This past week i heard about the extremely bizarre and unfortunate news about a chimpanzee who had brutally attacked a woman.. I guess if you haven't heard yet, Travis was a 200 pound domesticated chimpanzee who was cared for by Sandra Herold and had starred in a commercials for Old Navy and Coco Cola . Sandra had cared for the chimpanzee his entire life and was the only thing she had left after her husband and daughter had passed away. The day of the attack, the chimpanzee was acting differently and was refusing to go inside his house and that's when Sandra called her friend Charla Nash for some assistance on luring the animal back inside the house. The chimpanzee apparently went berserk when he came in contact with Charla and then brutally mauled and attacked her. The chimpanzee continued to attack Charla even after he was struck by a shovel and then stabbed with a knife by the owner. Eventually, Sandra had no choice but to call the authorities which consequently resulted in the enraged chimp being shot dead. There are several speculations as to why the chimp behave the way he did and one of them is that perhaps he was unfamiliar with Charla due to her new appearance and maybe she triggered something when she held a stuffed toy in front of her face to gain his attention. Whatever the case may be, I was just curious as to what you guys thought about all this and if there should be laws put in place to prevent people from having primates as pets.

Taken

2-16-2009 11:26pm

I caught the film Taken this weekend and was pleasantly surprised at how the plot just jumped right into the action at full throttle. I can honestly say there wasn't a dull moment in the entire movie.

The plot of film is about Bryan who is played by Liam Neeson and how he goes about on a warpath of destruction throughout Europe while beating on and tearing apart anyone who dares to stop him from rescuing his kidnapped teenage daughter. His daughter has been taken by an Albanian gang who specializes in trafficking of young women and he quickly hunts them down just like he promises and dishes out his retribution. The tag line of the flick is "I don't know who you are but if you don't let my daughter go..I will find you..I will kill you" and Liam Neeson does exactly that. Throughout the movie I'm pretty sure he killed at least sixty men by himself and hes comparable to James Bond..but on crack and if you don't believe me just go watch the fim.

A classic

2-10-2009 12:25am

The past week, my roommates and I decided to have a "movie night." I know that sounds quite homosexual but thats okay because its our favorite comedy of all time and we decided to make an exception with the movie being Super Troopers. The tag line of the film is "You don't mess with the law. The law messes with you" so of course you know hilarity ensues.

The film begins with three college kids on a road trip to visit Canada for some "french fries and gravy" or so they say but their fun comes to a premature halt when they are pulled over by two Vermont State Troopers. Little did the college students know, they were in for a ride of their lives because these were no ordinary officers of the law.

The film focuses on five state troopers who enjoy devising new ways to prank civilians way more than they enjoy enforcing the law. The plot is about how they actually have to become legitimate police officers or something close to it if they want to retain their jobs because they are on the verge of being shut down.

The film is created by the Broken Lizard crew and they have a new film coming out called "Slammin Salmon" and you can find the trailer here at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1sbmHw844E

Cardinals robbed of an opportunity?

2-3-2009 12:40am

By now most of us have already seen, if not heard about the stunning Steeler's victory over the cardinals in Superbowl forty-three. But what you may not have noticed or seen was the touchdown celebration late in the game by Santonio Holmes which ultimately decided the game. During his celebration Holmes uses the football as a prop which is clearly against regulations and is cause for an "excessive celebration" penalty. If that penalty had been recognized by the referees the Cardinals would have recieved an extra fifteen yards and may have approached the game with an entirely different offensive attitude and the Steelers may have had to switch up their mindset defensively. I'm not going as far as to say that this would've changed the final outcome of the game because it probably wouldn't have i'm just saying that the opportunity that could've arisen was denied.

Might Ducks 2..best movie ever?

1-26-2009 7:08pm

I went to best buy the other day and was browsing through their wide variety of DVD's and I came across Might Ducks 2! Instantly, my childhood memories came rushing back into my head i remembered spending countless hours on the black top with my roller blades attempting to perfect the "famous knuckle puck"shot. Anyways, the movie starts off with coach Bombay who is returning back from the amatuer league after being injured. Coach Bombay reunites the old team plus a couple of new faces and creates the junior goodwill team representing the United States. Team USA faces their archnemesis Iceland in the finals. The game ends up in a tie so then a shootout occurs and the Ducks win it in overtime while doing all this in style.
